About the role#
This is an eight-month co-op position within the External Financial Advisory team in Edmonton, starting in January 2027. You will work with a team of professionals to provide financial information and advisory services to clients. This is a full-time, paid, on-site role.
What you'll do#
- Develop technical skills in areas including compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital asset acquisition and disposition.
- Summarize the financial status of clients by collecting information and preparing profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other relevant reports.
- Review, investigate, and correct discrepancies or irregularities in financial documents, entries, and reports.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards while managing multiple client files.
- Prepare technical reports, correspondence, and client summaries.
- Collaborate with engagement teams and build professional relationships with client contacts.
What you'll need#
- Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Working towards the prerequisites required for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Previous accounting-related office experience is an asset.
- Experience in customer or client service is an asset.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
