About the role#
MNP is seeking a Co-op Student to join the External Financial Advisory team in Edmonton for an eight-month term starting in January 2027. This full-time, paid position involves working on-site to provide tailored financial information and support to clients. You will work alongside professionals to help mid-market businesses navigate financial reporting and strategic challenges.
What you'll do#
- Build technical proficiency in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Perform walk-throughs with clients regarding accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital asset transactions.
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements, by gathering and summarizing client data.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial documents and entries.
- Set up charts of accounts and manage entries for posting.
- Assist with file setup for new clients and conduct inventory counts.
- Prepare technical reports, correspondence, and client summaries.
- Collaborate with engagement teams and maintain professional relationships with client contacts.
What you'll need#
- Currently working toward a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Progressing toward the prerequisites required for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Previous office experience in an accounting environment is considered an asset.
- Experience in customer or client service is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
