    About the role#

    The Town of LaSalle is hiring a Communications Assistant for a full-time contract position during the Winter 2027 term. You will work within the Strategy and Engagement department to share information with the public, media, staff, and Council members. This role involves research and writing to create clear, concise, and visual materials. You will report to the Director of Strategy and Engagement and work alongside the Corporate Communications and Promotions Officer.

    What you'll do#

    • Write and design communication resources like media releases, newsletters, brochures, and social media posts.
    • Provide administrative support through tasks such as filing, photocopying, and drafting reports or letters.
    • Help plan and organize events and special activities.
    • Attend events to take photos and videos for social media updates.
    • Monitor media and social media channels.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be a post-secondary student in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related program.
    • You must be returning to school in September 2027.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • An Ontario Class G2 or G driver's license.
    • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Constant Contact, Hootsuite, and photography or videography is considered an asset.

    Location & details#

    • Location: LaSalle, Ontario.
    • Term: January 4, 2027, to April 30, 2027.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week), with occasional evening or weekend shifts as needed.
    • This is a paid position.
