About the role#
As a Social Media Marketing Intern for the City of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation department, you will support marketing efforts through strategy, content creation, and community engagement. You will report to the Manager of Communications and help connect youth, families, and the broader community to local programs and events.
What you'll do#
- Create and organize content calendars for Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
- Produce graphics, short-form and long-form video, captions, hashtags, and links that align with brand standards.
- Monitor comments and messages to ensure accurate and positive community engagement.
- Track analytics and evaluate trends to suggest improvements for reach and impact.
- Assist with social media campaigns for seasonal initiatives, department events, and programs.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current or completed coursework in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Experience using major social media platforms for content creation.
- Strong writing skills to produce age-appropriate and family-friendly content.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in public-facing communications.
- A valid Indiana Driver's License is required if you operate a City vehicle.

- This role is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
- The position is on-site and offers up to 30 hours per week.
- This is a paid internship.
