About the role#
The City of Jonesboro is looking for a student to join the Communications Department. This internship provides hands-on experience in local government communications, social media, public relations, and community outreach. You will work with the Marketing and Community Outreach Coordinator and the Digital Media Specialist to support day-to-day operations and special projects.
What you'll do#
- Draft social media posts, announcements, and basic communications.
- Create simple graphics and digital content for City social media platforms.
- Take photos and video at City events, programs, and community activities.
- Assist with basic photo and video editing.
- Prepare and schedule social media content.
- Update City website content.
- Support City events, community meetings, and outreach activities.
- Prepare flyers, presentations, and other public information materials.
- Research information for communications projects.
- Assist with livestreams and public meetings.
- Organize photos, videos, and other communications files.
- Track social media engagement and compile basic analytics.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university.
- Interest in fields such as Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Media Studies, Graphic Design, or Public Health.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media and digital platforms.
- Ability to work with a team and interact professionally with City employees and the public.
- Experience with photography, video editing, or graphic design is helpful but not required.
