About the role#
As a Tax Intern in Core Tax Services, you will work with experienced professionals to prepare tax returns and extensions. This position offers a hands-on perspective of our firm practices and helps you build relationships within the industry. You will use your educational background and organizational skills to support our client base.
What you'll do#
- Ensure client compliance with tax authorities while minimizing reporting burdens.
- Prepare simple tax returns, quarterly estimates, and extensions using tax software.
- Organize files and use referencing systems to minimize rework.
- Assist with responses to Internal Revenue Service notices and project year-end filings.
- Apply firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual to ASC 740, FAS 109, and FIN 48 requirements.
- Gather tax information using online research tools and monitor developments in tax law.
- Communicate viewpoints on tax developments to the client service team.
- Assist in developing methods to maximize client benefits.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team setting.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Preference for candidates pursuing a Masters degree or those with leadership experience.
