About the role#
The Minnesota Historical Society is looking for a History Education Social Media Intern to support the Teacher Education and Curriculum Development team. This role focuses on promoting educational programming and resources to K-12 teachers across the state. You will help build our presence on social media and manage communications for our various educational services.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with staff to design and carry out a social media plan.
- Create and post content for Instagram and Facebook.
- Write and design monthly email newsletters for teachers.
- Research social media tools and strategies to suggest future improvements.
- Analyze data to help grow engagement with the teacher audience.
- Attend meetings with the supervisor and the strategic communications team.
- Work on additional projects as assigned.
- Participate in three professional development seminars and present your work at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, or graduation within the past 12 months.
- Preferred degrees include Education, History, Media Studies, Public Relations, or Marketing.
- Undergraduate juniors or seniors are encouraged to apply.
- Experience with Facebook, Instagram, project planning, research, and video creation.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to think creatively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience building relationships with a diverse group of people.
- Background in education or history is preferred, and experience engaging students is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: St Paul, Minnesota.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 19, 2027 to May 23, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid, with 10 hours of work per week.
- Compensation: $17.02 per hour.
- Preferred in-person hours are Tuesdays or Wednesdays between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
