About the role#
This is a part-time, temporary internship focused on researching the 80-year history of the Twin Cities Japanese American Citizens League (TCJACL). You will work with archival materials located at the Minnesota History Center, the Gale Family Library, and the East Side Freedom Library. The position runs from January 19, 2027, to August 29, 2027. Interns are expected to work 8 to 15 hours per week, with preferred shifts on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. You will also participate in three professional development seminars and prepare a final presentation of your work.
What you'll do#
- Research TCJACL organizational records to identify key events and individuals.
- Create a historical timeline based on your research findings.
- Explore methods for presenting this history to the public.
- Deliver a written report of the timeline.
- Develop a visual or digital display of the organization's history.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student, or graduation within the past 12 months.
- A degree or progress toward a degree in History, Historic Preservation, Asian American Studies, or Journalism.
- Experience with archival research.
- An interest in Asian American history.
- Ability to work as an independent learner.
- Strong attention to detail.
