About the role#
The Communications Intern works with the Advancement and External Affairs department to share the mission and offerings of the Studio Museum in Harlem with stakeholders, the press, and the public. This role provides an opportunity to learn about institutional voice, communications strategy, and media relations best practices.
What you'll do#
- Draft copy for administrative, programming, and exhibition needs.
- Support the maintenance of department records through administrative tasks.
- Assist in communicating the museum's mission to diverse audiences.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student, or a recent graduate.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Superb attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with social media and online email marketing tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 11, 2027 to April 16, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid (requires three days per week in-person, with Tuesdays being mandatory).
- Commitment: 20 hours per week during the workweek.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship with a stipend of $5,040.
