About the role#
The Minnesota Historical Society is looking for a History Education Social Media Intern to support our Teacher Education and Curriculum Development team. This role focuses on promoting educational programming, resources, and opportunities to K-12 teachers through digital channels. You will help shape our online presence by researching strategies, creating content, and analyzing engagement data.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with staff to design and carry out a social media plan.
- Create and post content for Instagram and Facebook.
- Write and design monthly email newsletters for teachers.
- Research new social media tools and strategies to improve audience engagement.
- Attend meetings with your supervisor and the strategic communications team.
- Develop images and videos to support educational outreach.
- Manage additional projects related to K-12 programs as they arise.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student, or graduation within the last 12 months.
- A background in Education, History, Media Studies, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience with Instagram, Facebook, or other social media platforms.
- Skills in project planning, research, and video creation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written communication skills and a creative approach to problem-solving.
- Experience in education or history is preferred, as is experience engaging students.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid position based in St. Paul, Minnesota.
- The internship runs from January 19, 2027, to May 23, 2027.
- You will work 10 hours per week.
- Preferred in-person hours are Tuesdays or Wednesdays between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
- Interns must participate in three professional development seminars and a final presentation on May 23, 2027.
- This is a paid position.
