About the role#
The Fraud & Forensics team is looking for a Co-op Student to assist with fraud risk management, investigations, and data analysis. Reporting to the Manager of Fraud & Forensics, you will help identify and mitigate risks while supporting organizational accountability and integrity. This role offers exposure to forensic practices and internal controls within a public sector environment.
What you'll do#
- Support fraud risk assessment, prevention, and awareness initiatives.
- Collect, organize, validate, and analyze information for investigations and projects.
- Research and analyze data to identify trends, anomalies, and risk areas.
- Prepare reports, presentations, workpapers, and project documentation.
- Develop and maintain tracking tools, databases, spreadsheets, and dashboards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support forensic engagements.
- Assist with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in a recognized post-secondary co-op program with plans to return to school after the term.
- Enrollment in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Criminology, Data Analytics, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of fraud risk management, auditing, or compliance is an asset.
- Experience with data analysis or tools like Power BI is an asset.
- Interest in governance, ethics, and organizational integrity is an asset.
