About the role#
The Bus Service Design team is hiring three co-op students for the Winter 2027 term, running from January to April. You will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of GO Transit bus services across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. During the application process, you will indicate your interest in either the Operational Excellence or Scheduling streams.
What you'll do#
Depending on your assigned team, you will contribute to transit planning, data analysis, and operational improvements.
- Operational Excellence (2 positions): You will conduct site visits to bus stops and terminals, perform field observations to assess service delivery, and collect data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Scheduling (1 position): You will assist in developing and maintaining bus schedules and service plans, analyze ridership data to support adjustments, and prepare planning documentation.
- General responsibilities: All students will develop and maintain spreadsheets, databases, and dashboards. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and assist in preparing reports and presentations to support service design decisions.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in a post-secondary co-op program with plans to return to school after the term.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in public transit, transportation planning, or mobility systems.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Assets include experience with GIS (ArcGIS), data tools (Power BI, R Studio, Python), and relevant academic or volunteer experience in research and planning.
- For Operational Excellence positions, a valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence in good standing is required for field work.
