About the role#
The Service and Access Planning team is hiring three Co-op Students to help plan, implement, and monitor GO Transit rail services. You will work with internal stakeholders to gain hands-on experience in rail service planning, operational analysis, and transit data management. This role supports the delivery of GO Transit services across the region.
What you'll do#
- Support rail service planning and operational improvement initiatives.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and maintain service and operational data for the GO Rail network.
- Develop and maintain spreadsheets, databases, and reports to support planning and decision-making.
- Assist with the preparation of operational documentation, including internal and public-facing timetables.
- Conduct research and analysis to support service planning, monitoring, and performance evaluation.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather information and support project deliverables.
- Support the development of presentations, reports, and planning materials.
- Participate in occasional fieldwork, including passenger counts and service observations.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled full-time in a recognized post-secondary co-op program and eligible to complete a work term, with plans to return to school afterward.
- Enrollment in Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, Computer Science, Transportation Planning, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Experience with large datasets or quantitative analysis is an asset.
- Familiarity with GIS, Power BI, R, Python, or similar analytical tools is an asset.
- An interest in transportation planning, rail operations, or public transit is an asset.
