About the role#
Tech Crew members support university functions by managing the technical needs for events like concerts, lectures, and chapels. You will work on-site to ensure sound, lighting, and video equipment runs properly from setup to teardown. This role is paid at $9.50 per hour.
What you'll do#
- Set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot lighting, sound, and video equipment.
- Organize and prepare technical gear for events.
- Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on equipment.
- Transport gear across campus.
- Maintain the inventory and organization of storage facilities.
- Communicate with the technical team and assist event coordinators as needed.
What you'll need#
- Experience with sound or lighting setup and operation.
- A background in customer service.
- Willingness to learn how to operate and maintain technical equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work from heights on ladders or lifts.
- Independence, self-motivation, common sense, and creativity.
- Ability to stay calm and work well under pressure.
- Flexibility to work long hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Majors in Communications, Media Studies, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Business Administration are relevant to this work.
