About the role#
Mercy Health is hiring for a Patient Care Technician or Student Nurse to join the Orthopedic and Oncology units at West Hospital. This is a full-time, on-site position. You will work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to provide essential support and care to patients in a clinical setting.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic health care, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with patient hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
- Sanitize and clean patient rooms to maintain a safe environment.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and the nursing staff by reporting changes or concerns.
- Offer customer service to patients, their families, and visitors.
- Document patient care accurately and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Participate in shift hand-offs and report pertinent patient information.
- Perform delegated clinical tasks once your competency is validated.
What you'll need#
- For Student Nurses: A high school diploma or GED and current enrollment in a nursing program with at least one completed clinical course and rotation.
- For Patient Care Technicians: Successful completion of a nursing aide training program, STNA, CNA, or Nurses Aide state testing, or one clinical nursing course and rotation, or one year of relevant clinical experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.
