About the role#
This position is for a Clinical Nursing Student to work in the Progressive Care Unit at Anderson Hospital. You will gain clinical experience by shadowing Registered Nurses and providing direct patient care under their supervision. This is a part-time role based on night shifts.
What you'll do#
- Support the nursing process by collaborating with RNs to ensure quality care.
- Provide basic patient care, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with personal hygiene, and helping with mobility.
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as feeding, hydration, and nutrition.
- Collect and document patient data and participate in hand-off reports.
- Act as a liaison between patients and nurses, reporting any changes or concerns.
- Use clinical technology and perform delegated tasks once competency is validated.
- Seek out educational opportunities to develop critical thinking skills.
- Escalate concerns through the proper chain of command.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- Ability to follow directions and communicate clearly with the healthcare team.
- Knowledge of patient safety standards, infection prevention, and team dynamics.
- Recent experience in an acute or long-term care facility is preferred.
- BLS certification is preferred.
