About the role#
This Actuarial Co-op position offers students exposure to core actuarial disciplines including pricing, valuation, modeling, risk management, and asset liability management. You will work within a specific department for the duration of the term, gaining hands-on experience while collaborating with professional actuaries. This is a paid, full-time opportunity.
What you'll do#
- Join one of our actuarial departments for the duration of your co-op.
- Meet regularly with your manager and team to establish work priorities.
- Complete projects focused on process improvement to increase departmental efficiency.
- Present your findings and recommendations to your manager and other stakeholders.
- Attend events featuring speakers from various departments to build your professional network and business knowledge.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- A strong academic record with a high GPA.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities with an innovative mindset.
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to manage work under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with the Society of Actuaries (SOA) qualification process.
- A strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Programming skills and previous actuarial or financial internships are considered assets.
Location & details#
- Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 5 to April 22, 2027, or January 5 to June 24, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid. You are expected to be in the office Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work options available on Mondays and Fridays.
