About the role#
This summer internship program provides an immersive learning experience within the retirement sales division at John Hancock. You will work alongside internal sales leadership and business partners to build a foundation in sales strategy, financial products, and client engagement. This role is designed to develop future talent by offering direct exposure to the business and opportunities to expand your professional network.
What you'll do#
- Learn foundational industry knowledge including investments, financial products, privacy, compliance, and the business model.
- Train on core sales systems such as Salesforce, Brightscope Beacon, investment comparison tools, and other prospecting resources.
- Support retirement sales divisions by conducting research, preparing reports, and contributing to internal projects.
- Participate in networking sessions with subject matter experts across departments like national accounts, investments, marketing, and product.
- Engage in professional development workshops and coaching from sales leaders and the learning and development team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Sales, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Strong academic performance and a genuine interest in a career in finance or sales after graduation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Prior internship, co-op, or work experience in financial services, sales, or client-facing roles is preferred.
- Familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership experience through campus involvement or extracurricular activities is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to new tasks quickly.
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm for building client relationships.
