About the role#
As an Operations and Maintenance Technician intern, you will support the daily monitoring and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) systems. You will work within semiconductor and advanced manufacturing facilities, gaining hands-on exposure to mission critical infrastructure. This role involves working alongside experienced technicians and engineers to ensure the reliability of facility operations.
What you'll do#
- Monitor electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, and VFDs.
- Conduct routine facility rounds and document equipment readings.
- Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and I&C equipment like motors, sensors, and actuators.
- Help troubleshoot electrical and control system issues, including PLC, SCADA, and BMS platforms.
- Support the calibration and testing of instrumentation devices.
- Learn to interpret technical documentation such as electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Apply safety protocols including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and arc flash requirements.
- Maintain accurate records in the CMMS and support vendor activities.
- Participate in EHS programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- A strong interest in facilities operations, electrical maintenance, or mission critical environments.
- A willingness to learn and develop hands-on technical skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills.
- Ability to follow strict safety procedures and document work accurately.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical discipline is preferred.
- Previous experience in a mission critical environment is a plus.

- Location: Sunnyvale, California.
- Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
- Term: Rolling.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $20 to $30 per hour.
