About the role#
The Respiratory Therapy Student assists respiratory therapists with preparing for and providing patient care in an acute setting. This is a PRN position requiring a minimum of two shifts per month, including one weekend shift.
What you'll do#
- Deliver routine therapy as delegated by a respiratory therapist.
- Assess patient conditions and provide appropriate treatment.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient status to the care team.
- Educate patients and their families regarding illnesses and available resources.
- Manage respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders, including stocking and storage maintenance.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited respiratory therapy program with at least two semesters completed.
- Current State Board of Respiratory Care (Student) registration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required within one month of hire).
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certifications are preferred.
