About the role#
The Nurse Extern I role provides nursing students with hands-on experience in a clinical setting. You will work under the direction of registered nurses to support patient care while developing your professional skills in a hospital environment.
What you'll do#
- Perform direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including nutrition, hygiene, and ambulation.
- Evaluate the learning needs of patients and families, providing education based on their specific circumstances.
- Maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Act as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in nursing school, specifically in the first or second semester.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, which must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Strong critical thinking skills and sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfort working in a high-stress environment.
- Submission of a written essay detailing your interest in the role, your potential contributions to patient care, and your long-term career goals.
- One letter of recommendation from a clinical instructor.
Location & details#
- Location: Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
- Schedule: PRN, 12-hour shifts (days or nights), approximately 4 shifts per month, including weekends and holidays.
- Status: Paid, full-time equivalent role.
