About the role#
As a Nurse Extern II at Havasu Regional Medical Center, you will gain hands-on experience while supporting patient care under the supervision of registered nurses. This role focuses on developing clinical assessment skills, improving time management, and contributing to the daily operations of a community hospital.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
- Serve as a patient monitor for Mobile Cardiac Telemetry (MCT).
- Build professional relationships with patients, families, and the broader healthcare team.
- Develop patient assessment skills and perform quality-focused charting.
- Demonstrate proficiency in skills learned through your nursing program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program, specifically in the third semester.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfort working in a high-stress environment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required within 30 days of hire.
- Submission of a written essay and one letter of recommendation from a clinical instructor.
Location & details#
- Location: Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
- Schedule: PRN, approximately 4 shifts per month, including 2 weekend shifts and 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year.
- Shifts: Varied days or nights depending on the department.
- Work Modality: On-site.
