About the role#
As a Nurse Extern II at Havasu Regional Medical Center, you will gain hands-on experience while contributing to patient care under the supervision of registered nurses. This role focuses on developing your clinical skills and professional judgment within a community hospital setting.
What you'll do#
- Perform direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
- Focus on developing skills in patient assessment and time management.
- Learn and execute proper quality-focused charting.
- Serve as a patient monitor for Mobile Cardiac Telemetry (MCT).
- Maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Demonstrate proficiency in clinical skills as outlined by your nursing program checklist.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program, specifically in the third semester.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfort working in a high-stress environment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, which must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Submission of a written essay addressing your interest in the externship, potential contributions to patient care, and long-term career goals.
- One letter of recommendation from a clinical instructor.

- Location: Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: PRN, full-time equivalent.
- Schedule: Varied shifts (days or nights). Requires a minimum of 4 shifts per month, including 2 weekend shifts, plus 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year.
