About the role#
This position is for a Clinical Nursing Student to work as a Patient Care Technician in the Progressive Care Unit. You will gain clinical experience by shadowing Registered Nurses and providing direct patient care under their guidance. This role is designed to help you develop critical thinking skills and build your nursing practice through hands-on work.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, feeding, nutrition, and mobility.
- Record vital signs and document patient information accurately.
- Act as a liaison between the patient and the nursing team to report any changes or concerns.
- Participate in hand-off reports regarding patient and departmental needs.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure quality care and follow safety standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Recent experience in an acute care or long-term care facility is preferred.
- BLS certification is preferred.
