About the role#
This internship position supports the Readout Integrated Circuit (ROIC) or FPGA development teams within the Electro Optical Infrared Systems division. You will work alongside team members to develop digital integrated circuits for ROIC and Focal Plane Arrays or support FPGA development for infrared sensors and systems. This role provides mentorship and opportunities to learn new skills in a hands-on engineering environment.
What you'll do#
- Support architecture tradeoff projects.
- Participate in RTL coding and test bench development.
- Contribute to IC or FPGA design flows, including synthesis, place and route, timing closure, and design verification testing.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or master's degree program in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with at least a 3.0 GPA.
- Understanding of digital logic and architecture concepts.
- Basic knowledge of HDL/HVLs such as VHDL, Verilog, System Verilog, or UVM.
- Basic knowledge of programming and scripting languages like C++, Perl, Python, or TCL.
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Good lab debug skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain or maintain an active DOD security clearance.

- Location: Dallas, Texas.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site at the DRS Dallas facility for at least 10 weeks.
