About the role#
This internship supports the Human Resources team by providing Hmong translation and interpretation services. You will help remove language barriers, assist coworkers with language support needs, and contribute to inclusion initiatives across the organization. This role works closely with the Inclusion Team, leaders, and coworkers to foster a culture of accessibility.
What you'll do#
- Provide accurate written and verbal Hmong and English translations for HR, safety, training, and workplace communications.
- Act as a resource for coworkers who need translation or interpretation support, including assistance with phone calls and emails.
- Build relationships with Hmong-speaking coworkers through regular outreach and presence on the production floor.
- Maintain translated documents, training materials, and signage.
- Partner with leaders to support language access initiatives and help identify accessibility gaps.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and project updates regarding inclusion efforts.
- Support the planning and implementation of cultural awareness activities and coworker events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, Education, Social Work, Community Engagement, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Hmong and English with the ability to translate and interpret written and verbal communications.
- Skill in managing sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
- Experience with personal computers and software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and HRIS systems.
- Ability to work in a variety of temperature conditions and travel as needed.
Location & details#
- This position is located in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
- This is an on-site, part-time role.
- You are expected to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during the school year, with potential for increased hours during breaks.
- Schedules are flexible based on your class schedule and business needs, with a preference for 2nd shift availability.
