About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals while ensuring a high level of customer service. This role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all pharmacy visitors. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide clinical services and manage daily pharmacy operations.
What you'll do#
- Create an outstanding customer experience by answering questions and providing drug counseling.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Dispense medications and facilitate accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of the pharmacist.
- Assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Process third-party insurance information and contact prescribers' offices for authorizations.
- Manage inventory by stocking incoming orders and returning unused stock to inventory.
- Maintain pharmacy safety standards by reporting risks and notifying management of incidents.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to gain and maintain deep knowledge of pharmaceutical products to discuss with customers and prescribers.
- Strong interpersonal skills to promote trust and respect among associates.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a professional environment while maintaining honesty and integrity regarding patient information.
