    About the role#

    This is a summer 2027 internship position within the Audit and Assurance team at KPMG US. You will work in a hybrid capacity, focusing on process, risk, and controls. This role offers exposure to internal audit engagements and the opportunity to work with emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, and modern ERP systems.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct internal audit risk assessments and perform planning, scoping, and reporting.
    • Execute internal control assessments and perform effectiveness testing.
    • Support client Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
    • Use automation tools to assist in the planning and execution of risk and control projects.
    • Analyze results from internal control testing to determine the efficacy of business and IT processes.
    • Participate in analytical reviews of key client processes.
    • Prepare and analyze internal audit findings and recommendations for stakeholders.
    • Learn to apply new technologies to audit engagements.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Management Information Systems, Accounting Information Systems, Computer Science, or an equivalent program.
    • You must have additional academic credits to complete after the internship before obtaining your degree or CPA eligibility.
    • A preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
    • Knowledge of data analysis techniques, including Generative AI.
    • Strong business acumen, critical thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to apply professional judgment and skepticism while managing multiple tasks.
    • Authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Chicago, Illinois.
    • Modality: Hybrid, with an expectation to work in-person at a KPMG office or client site an average of three days per week.
    • Transportation: You must reside within a commutable distance and be able to travel to work locations using your own means of transportation.
    • Status: This is a paid, full-time internship.
