About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in real property tax. You will work alongside subject matter experts to identify tax savings for clients and support them through tax controversies. This is a full-time, paid position based in Cleveland.
What you'll do#
- Identify tax savings opportunities for multi-state companies.
- Assist with state and local tax controversies, including preparing clients for auditor discussions.
- Represent clients at hearings and appeal meetings.
- Prepare protests and research technical tax questions.
- Draft memoranda and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Review documentation and perform detailed calculations using raw data.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or Economics.
- Graduation date within one year of the internship.
- Minimum overall and major GPA of 2.8.
- Completion of 6 to 12 accounting hours, depending on the specific practice.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and web research.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently or in a team.
- A valid driver’s license.
