About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work alongside tax professionals on state and local tax matters. You will support multi-state companies by identifying tax savings and managing tax controversies. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in The Woodlands, Texas, during the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Provide client service to identify tax savings opportunities.
- Assist with tax controversies, including preparing clients for auditor discussions.
- Represent clients at hearings and appeal meetings.
- Prepare protests and respond to requests from tax authorities.
- Research and draft technical memoranda regarding tax issues.
- Review documentation and perform detailed calculations using raw data.
What you'll need#
- Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or Economics.
- Graduation date within one year of the internship.
- Minimum overall and major GPA of 2.8.
- Completion of 6 to 12 accounting hours, depending on the practice.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and task-prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- A valid driver’s license.
