About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Chicago. You will work alongside tax experts to identify savings opportunities for multi-state companies. The role involves hands-on training and exposure to state and local tax controversies.
What you'll do#
- Provide client service to identify tax savings opportunities.
- Assist with state and local tax controversies, including preparing clients for auditor discussions.
- Represent clients at hearings and appeal meetings.
- Prepare protests and research technical tax issues.
- Draft memoranda and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Review documentation and perform detailed calculations using raw data.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or Economics.
- Graduation date within one year of the internship.
- Minimum overall and major GPA of 2.8.
- Completion of 6 to 12 accounting hours, depending on the practice.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, work independently, and collaborate in a team.
- A valid driver’s license.

- Compensation: $23.70 to $27.50 per hour.
