About the role#
Knight Piesold is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Denver, Colorado. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support infrastructure projects in mining, water resources, and hydropower.
What you'll do#
- Apply mechanical engineering principles to create safe and economical design solutions.
- Perform technical analyses, calculations, and modeling for Newtonian and non-Newtonian pump and pipe systems.
- Conduct rheology evaluations, CFD, and 3D layout modeling.
- Assist in creating engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and other deliverables.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project planning, design, and execution.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Preference for students entering their junior year, senior year, or graduate studies.
- Strong interest in developing technical skills within a consulting environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Experience with Civil 3D is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage time, organize tasks, and solve problems effectively.
- Ability to travel to project and field locations as needed.
