About the role#
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering student to join our team in Bloomington for the summer of 2027. You will work with a multi-disciplined group of engineers and architects on projects in sectors like industrial, government, education, mining, and freight rail. This internship focuses on exposing you to the full project life cycle from conception to construction.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of engineering and architectural professionals.
- Engage in active mechanical design projects.
- Assist with the preparation of studies, design specifications, and detailed drawings.
- Create process flow diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, and equipment arrangement drawings.
- Support preliminary site and conditions assessments.
- Help with construction administration tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited bachelor’s degree program for Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience, coursework, or a strong interest in designing building or industrial mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Training or experience with AutoCAD and Revit MEP or similar 3D design software.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to ask questions and participate in team discussions regarding technical reports and specifications.
- General understanding of drafting techniques and construction plan development.
- Experience or coursework related to pipe stress analysis.
- A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel locally as needed.
Location & details#
- Location: Bloomington, Minnesota.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 25 through August 13).
- Commitment: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Modality: On-site with potential for hybrid arrangements.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
