About the role#
TKDA is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027. This role is based in Bloomington, Minnesota, and offers an opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real municipal and infrastructure projects. You will work alongside professional engineers and technicians to support planning and design efforts. The position is full-time, running from May 25 through August 13, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Provide planning and design support for municipal and water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Contribute to work on underground utilities, storm sewer and drainage systems, wastewater collection and treatment, drinking water supply and distribution, street design, and multi-use trail systems.
- Research materials and code requirements.
- Perform design calculations and prepare cost and quantity estimates.
- Draft reports and specifications.
- Participate in team meetings and visit project sites.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Civil or Environmental Engineering, with an emphasis on water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Experience or formal training with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Proficiency in the MS Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel locally for site visits and meetings.
- Preferred experience includes familiarity with ArcMap, XPSWWM, SewerCAD, HydroCAD, WaterCAD, or Revit.
- Experience with construction documentation, on-site inspections, or surveying is a plus.
