About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to join the Facilities Engineering team in Bloomington, Minnesota, for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside a multi-disciplined group of architects and engineers on projects in the industrial, government, education, and mining sectors. The program is designed to provide exposure to the full project life cycle, from initial concept to construction.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with a team of civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural professionals.
- Develop structural models, floor plans, details, and construction documentation using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Expand your knowledge of steel, cast-in-place concrete, and precast concrete design.
- Assist with preliminary site and conditions assessments.
- Support construction administration tasks.
- Help prepare technical reports and project specifications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate bachelor’s degree program for civil engineering with a structural emphasis.
- Coursework in steel and concrete design.
- Experience or training with AutoCAD and Revit.
- Familiarity with drafting techniques and construction plan development.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Ability to use structural analysis programs like MathCAD or RISA.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel locally for project assignments and site visits.

- Location: Bloomington, Minnesota.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 25 through August 13).
- Commitment: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Modality: On-site with potential for hybrid flexibility.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
