About the role#
This summer internship provides an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real engineering challenges within our Facilities Engineering Division. You will work alongside Professional Engineers, Designers, and Technicians to support electrical system design for a variety of projects, including government and educational facilities, manufacturing plants, and industrial sites.
What you'll do#
- Prepare studies, design specifications, and detailed drawings for building electrical systems.
- Assist with construction administration, including interpreting plans, observing construction operations, and maintaining reports to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of Mechanical, Civil, and Structural Engineers and Architects.
- Engage in technical discussions, ask questions, and assist with the preparation of reports and specifications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelors degree program for Electrical Engineering.
- Previous internship experience, relevant coursework, or a strong interest in power, lighting, and signal system design.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Experience or formal training with AutoCAD and Revit MEP or similar 3D design software.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel locally for project assignments or site visits.
- Familiarity with drafting techniques, construction plan development, or lighting software like Visual is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Bloomington, Minnesota.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 25 through August 13).
- Commitment: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Modality: On-site with potential for hybrid work arrangements.
- Compensation: $20 to $24 per hour, depending on your anticipated graduation date.
