About the role#
This is a summer internship for the 2027 season. You will join the Cedar Street Architecture team to work on facilities projects for Class I Railroads and Mass Transit organizations. You will work on-site at our office in Downers Grove, Illinois, for 40 hours per week from May 25 through August 13, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of design and engineering professionals.
- Engage in the full life cycle of new or renovated facilities projects.
- Assist with developing schematic designs.
- Prepare and edit specifications.
- Create construction documentation.
- Use AutoCAD and Revit software to support project needs.
- Coordinate with Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural engineering teams to understand how different disciplines support one another.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as an undergraduate student in an Architecture program or a graduate student in a Master of Architecture program.
- Training or experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous internship experience at an architecture firm is a plus.
- Knowledge of construction methods, plan reading, and documentation.
- Familiarity with Lumion, Sketchup, or Adobe Suite.
