    About the role#

    Baird, Hampton & Brown is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work alongside professional engineers, EITs, and designers to gain experience in HVAC and plumbing design for a variety of public and private projects. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Fort Worth, Texas.

    What you'll do#

    • Design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
    • Create mechanical drawings and perform design calculations.
    • Conduct code research to support project requirements.
    • Perform plumbing design, including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, roof drainage, gas, and compressed-air systems.
    • Design constant and variable volume ductwork.
    • Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and design analyses.
    • Manage your workload across multiple project types.
    • Provide field reports on installed conditions.
    • Join engineers on site visits to review existing conditions and ongoing work.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Completion of 12-18 hours of Mechanical engineering coursework.
    • Exposure to AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
    • Familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, Autodesk Inventor, HAP, or Trace 700 is a plus.
