About the role#
Baird, Hampton & Brown is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. You will work with our team of engineers on various public and private sector projects. This position provides exposure to the daily operations of a civil engineering firm and helps you build technical skills while working under the guidance of experienced professionals.
What you'll do#
- Analyze survey reports, maps, blueprints, and topographical data to plan projects.
- Design transportation or hydraulic systems and structures according to government standards.
- Produce designs for stormwater, sewer, pipeline, parking, roadway, and sidewalk projects.
- Prepare site grading plans, utility plans, hydraulic calculations, and construction documents for permitting.
- Calculate load requirements, water flow rates, and material stress factors.
- Document project activities and prepare reports.
- Communicate project status to the Project Manager, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Join engineers on site visits and attend client meetings to represent the firm.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
- Completion of at least 12 to 18 hours of Civil engineering coursework.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with programs such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, or Bluebeam is helpful.
Location & details#
- Location: Weatherford, Texas.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
- The role is sedentary, though it involves occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds and site visits.
