About the role#
Baird, Hampton & Brown is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with an established team of engineers on a variety of private and public sector projects. This role provides an opportunity to develop technical skills and gain exposure to the daily operations of a structural engineering firm.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design drawings, specifications, calculation packages, and project reports.
- Perform structural analysis and design calculations for materials including steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.
- Produce drawings using AutoCAD or Revit.
- Perform construction administration tasks such as reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs.
- Attend client meetings and accompany engineers on site visits to view ongoing projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Civil or Architectural Engineering at an ABET-accredited institution.
- An emphasis in Structural Engineering.
- Completion of 12-18 hours of Civil or Architectural engineering coursework.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exposure to AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Revit, E-Tabs, RISA, or Bluebeam is a plus.
