About the role#
Baird, Hampton & Brown is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This full-time, on-site role in Fort Worth offers the opportunity to work alongside an established team of engineers on both private and public sector projects. You will build technical skills and gain exposure to various project types throughout the summer.
What you'll do#
- Analyze and interpret survey reports, maps, blueprints, aerial photography, and geological data.
- Plan and design transportation and hydraulic systems.
- Produce designs for stormwater, sewer, pipeline, parking, sidewalks, and roadways.
- Prepare site grading and utility plans, perform hydraulic calculations, and create construction documents for permitting.
- Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, and material stress factors.
- Document project activities and prepare reports.
- Communicate project status to project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Accompany engineers on site visits and attend client meetings to represent the firm.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Completion of at least 12-18 hours of Civil engineering coursework.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with programs such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, or Bluebeam is helpful.
