    About the role#

    Baird, Hampton & Brown is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with an established team of engineers to build technical skills across private and public sector projects. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Grapevine, Texas.

    What you'll do#

    • Analyze survey reports, maps, blueprints, and topographical data to plan projects.
    • Design transportation and hydraulic systems, including stormwater, sewer, pipeline, parking, sidewalks, and roadways.
    • Prepare site grading and utility plans, perform hydraulic calculations, and create construction documents for permitting.
    • Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, and material stress factors.
    • Document project activities and prepare technical reports.
    • Communicate project status to project managers and clients.
    • Attend client meetings and accompany engineers on site visits.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
    • Completion of at least 12-18 hours of Civil engineering coursework.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office.
    • Familiarity with tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, or Bluebeam is a plus.

    • Physical requirements include daily computer usage, occasional walking, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
