About the role#
Baird, Hampton & Brown is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with an established team of engineers to build technical skills across private and public sector projects. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Grapevine, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Analyze survey reports, maps, blueprints, and topographical data to plan projects.
- Design transportation and hydraulic systems, including stormwater, sewer, pipeline, parking, sidewalks, and roadways.
- Prepare site grading and utility plans, perform hydraulic calculations, and create construction documents for permitting.
- Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, and material stress factors.
- Document project activities and prepare technical reports.
- Communicate project status to project managers and clients.
- Attend client meetings and accompany engineers on site visits.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Completion of at least 12-18 hours of Civil engineering coursework.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, or Bluebeam is a plus.
