About the role#
Knight Piésold is hiring a Mechanical Engineering intern for Summer 2027. You will work on mining, water resources, and hydropower infrastructure projects. This role involves working in both an office and field environment, with potential travel to project sites. You will work under the guidance of experienced engineers to support design, analysis, and project execution.
What you'll do#
- Apply mechanical engineering principles to develop safe and economical design solutions.
- Perform technical analyses, including Newtonian and non-Newtonian pump and pipe systems.
- Conduct rheology evaluations and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling.
- Create 3D layout models and assist in developing engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Prepare technical reports and project documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project planning and design.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Students entering their junior year, senior year, or graduate studies are eligible.
- Proficiency in MS Office is required, and experience with Civil 3D is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to solve problems using sound judgment.
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively.
- Interest in learning and applying mechanical engineering fundamentals in a consulting environment.
- Ability to travel to project and field locations as needed.
