About the role#
Knight Piésold is hiring a Geotechnical Engineer intern for Summer 2027. You will work on mining and infrastructure projects while receiving mentorship from experienced engineers and technical specialists. This role involves both office work and field assignments.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design of major earthwork projects such as tailings dams, heap leach facilities, and ancillary infrastructure.
- Perform geotechnical engineering analyses, including slope stability, seepage, and liquefaction evaluations.
- Prepare civil layouts and drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Help prepare design reports and project proposals.
- Support geotechnical aspects of permitting, reclamation, and closure activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong interest in developing technical skills within a consulting environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office and an interest in learning geotechnical engineering fundamentals and construction plans.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to manage time, organize tasks, and solve problems effectively.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Ability to travel to project and field locations as needed.
- Experience with geotechnical engineering software is preferred.
