About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in construction management within our Northwest District. You will participate in core operations and learn the technical skills required for a career in heavy civil construction. This is a full-time, paid position for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform field engineering tasks and supervise field activities.
- Assist with operation planning, project scheduling, and cost control.
- Track quantities and maintain records regarding job progress, costs, and material usage.
- Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing.
- Coordinate with suppliers to manage material procurement and delivery.
- Investigate technical problems or incidents and recommend solutions.
- Handle minor technical issues that arise during construction.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program for civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer months.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and time management skills.
- Commitment to safety, ethics, and integrity.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well within a team or independently.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
- Physical ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
