About the role#
The Nurse Transition to Practice Program (TPP) allows nursing students to perform clinical duties while gaining experience in a hospital setting. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care, develop your clinical skills, and participate in professional development workshops as you progress through your nursing education.
What you'll do#
- Perform patient assessments and collect clinical data.
- Monitor patient status and obtain specimens under RN supervision.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to identify patient needs, develop care plans, and implement interventions.
- Provide direct patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living and restorative care.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and report changes to your supervisor.
- Document care in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Follow organizational policies and infection prevention practices.
- Participate in professional development and career planning workshops.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school (RN) program.
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Ability to maintain a nursing school skills checklist on file with the hospital.
- Physical ability to lift 50-70 pounds, assist in combined lifts up to 300 pounds, and walk 3 miles per shift.
