About the role#
The Nurse Transition to Practice Program Extern provides nursing students with hands-on clinical experience. You will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to perform clinical duties and gain exposure to patient care. This program supports your professional development as you progress through your nursing education.
What you'll do#
- Perform patient assessments and collect basic clinical data.
- Monitor patient status, obtain specimens, and report changes in condition to your supervising RN.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and restorative care.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to identify patient needs and develop care plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow organizational infection prevention practices.
- Participate in professional development workshops and career planning activities.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited RN nursing program.
- Proof of completion for at least the first semester of nursing school.
- Current BLS certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Ability to maintain good standing in your nursing program and keep a skills checklist on file.
- Physical ability to lift 50-70 pounds and walk 3 miles per shift.
