About the role#
The Nurse Technician provides basic patient care and supports daily living activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will assist with personal needs, maintain a clean environment, and help the nursing team with clinical tasks. This role relies on established guidelines to ensure patient comfort and safety.
What you'll do#
- Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Measure, collect, and document patient data like vital signs and report changes to the nurse.
- Help patients with personal hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
- Change bed linens and keep patient rooms and nursing stations orderly.
- Retrieve medications from the pharmacy or tube system for the nurse.
- Collect and transport patient specimens to the lab.
- Support physicians during examinations, treatments, and special tests.
- Perform clinical procedures consistent with your nursing education level and school standards.
- Observe and report behavioral or psychological changes in patients.
- Use equipment safely and efficiently while following hospital policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
- For RN students: Junior or Senior level with at least two clinical rotations completed, including Med/Surg.
- For LPN students: Completion of at least the first semester or term.
- Good standing within your nursing program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Skills in communication, customer service, and computer use.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
