About the role#
As a Student Nurse Care Partner, you will gain hands-on clinical experience while working under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. This per diem role allows you to apply your nursing education in a hospital setting, support patient care, and develop your clinical skills alongside experienced professionals.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care including hygiene, feeding, and mobility assistance.
- Lift, turn, and position patients using Safe Patient Handling equipment.
- Observe patients, including those requiring 1:1 supervision.
- Perform clinical tasks such as simple dressing changes, surgical preps, and specimen collection.
- Administer cleansing enemas and assist with the removal of peripheral IVs and foley catheters.
- Record vital signs, intake and output, and patient observations.
- Complete EKGs and transport patients or equipment as needed.
- Answer call bells and phones while maintaining a tidy patient environment.
- Notify nursing staff promptly of any changes in a patient's condition.
- Participate in unit council meetings and performance improvement activities.
- Maintain CPR certification.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing education program.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Basic computer and telephone proficiency.
- Capacity to safely assist with patient mobility and activities of daily living.
- A compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
- Willingness to learn and develop clinical nursing skills.
