About the role#
This is a per diem Pharmacy Intern position at Guthrie. You will work on-site in Corning, New York, to assist with medication preparation and patient care within a hospital setting. This role provides an opportunity to gain clinical experience under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and deliver medications for patients.
- Compound and mix IV medications after completing the Simplifi 797 education series and passing required testing.
- Round with clinical pharmacists on ICU patients.
- Participate in the medication reconciliation process.
- Provide medication education to patients in one-on-one or group settings.
- Fill unit dose carts and restock ADC cabinets on nursing units.
- Stock medications from wholesalers.
- Document adverse drug reactions in the reporting system.
- Prepare new drug writeups for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee.
- Deliver medications to nursing units and offsite locations, including the Outpatient Cancer Treatment Center and Corning Surgical Center.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma.
- Current enrollment in a College of Pharmacy.
- Eligibility for a New York State Pharmacy Intern Permit.
- A New York State Pharmacy Intern Permit.
- No previous hospital pharmacy experience is required.
