Pharmacy Intern - Retail Pharmacy - Per Diem

About the role#

The Pharmacy Intern supports hospital operations by assisting in the preparation and delivery of medications. This per diem position requires direct supervision by a licensed pharmacist and offers exposure to clinical pharmacy practice in an inpatient setting. No previous hospital pharmacy experience is required.

What you'll do#

• Prepare and deliver medications, including unit dose cart filling and stocking medications from wholesalers.
• Perform IV admixture preparation, including compounding and mixing, following the completion of required education and testing.
• Restock Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC) on nursing units.
• Round with clinical pharmacists on ICU patients.
• Participate in the medication reconciliation process and report adverse drug reactions.
• Provide medication education to patients in one-on-one or group settings.
• Prepare new drug write-ups for the Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee.
• Assist in the delivery of medications to nursing units and offsite locations, including the Outpatient Cancer Treatment Center and Corning Surgical Center.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma.
• Current enrollment in a College of Pharmacy.
• Eligibility for and possession of a New York State Pharmacy Intern Permit.

• Pay Range: $17.00 - $22.82 per hour.
