About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will join our team to help implement and oversee the Project Safety Program. You will gain hands-on experience in construction management while supporting our teams in the field. This role focuses on learning the programs, regulations, and guidelines we use to ensure our team members return home safely each day. You will be assigned to a project or office site for the duration of the summer.
What you'll do#
- Develop site safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor construction project activities to ensure compliance with government, client, and company policies.
- Establish and monitor safe working conditions.
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Implement metrics to track and report on safety performance issues.
- Review project work plans to ensure they meet all standards.
- Assist with safety program audits, coaching, and onsite training.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to spot discrepancies.
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization, from craft workers to leadership.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Knowledge of construction safety and Federal or OSHA requirements is preferred.
- Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.

- This is a full-time, paid internship based in Houston, Texas.
- The role is on-site.
- You must be willing to travel and relocate as required for projects.
