About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in construction management. You will work within the Water Facilities South group on projects such as water and wastewater treatment facilities. You will gain exposure to the daily operations of a construction site and learn the technical skills required for a career in the industry.
What you'll do#
- Perform field engineering and operation planning.
- Assist with project scheduling, cost control, and quantity tracking.
- Handle material procurement, including reviewing plans to determine requirements, pricing, and working with suppliers to expedite deliveries.
- Manage contract administration and supervise field activities.
- Maintain accurate records regarding job progress, costs, and material usage.
- Investigate technical problems on-site and recommend solutions.
- Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer, typically from May through August.
- Willingness to travel or relocate as needed for project assignments.
- Capability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- A commitment to safety, ethics, and integrity.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
